The challenge

  • Several servers were short of storage and memory
  • Operating systems were close to end of life, a compliance risk
  • Backups only partly worked, with little disaster recovery
  • There was no central view of system health
  • Staff needed procedures and training to run things smoothly

What we did

  • Supplied and fitted a 120TB network storage device with an expansion unit, for longer backup retention
  • Upgraded Acronis Cyber Backup to its advanced licences and automated the backup set-up
  • Set up a central monitoring server with real-time alerts for errors, resources and system health
  • Upgraded every physical server to Windows Server 2022
  • Added hard drives to give the servers more capacity and fault tolerance
  • Wrote procedures and checklists for spotting and fixing faults
  • Trained key staff on site in the new monitoring and backup tools

The results

Room for the data

120TB of storage for keeping backups longer, with space to grow.

Faster recovery

Quicker backups and restores, with less risk of losing data.

Problems spotted early

Real-time monitoring flags issues before they cause downtime.

Fewer call-outs

Procedures and checklists mean fewer on-site visits.

Compliant and current

Supported operating systems and modern backups.
