Technology needs assessments
We find the technology that helps someone work, study or learn. Assessments for adults and young people, with a written report to support Access to Work, an EHCP or an EOTAS package.
Who it’s for
Adults and young people
Assessed by a neurodivergent-led team that knows from experience how much the right tools can change.
Our team is DBS checked. We work with young people under our own safeguarding policy.
Adults at work
For people in work or starting a job, including to support an Access to Work application.
Young people in education
For children and young people at school or college, including to support an EHCP.
Learning outside school
For young people educated otherwise than at school, as part of an EOTAS package.
How an assessment works
- 1
Referral
From the person themselves, their school, their local authority or a medical professional.
- 2
Getting to know them
How they work or learn now, what gets in the way, and what they’d like to be easier. At their pace.
- 3
Trying things out
We look at the technology that could help, from software and settings to hardware.
- 4
A written report
Clear recommendations with the reason for each, to support Access to Work, EHCP and EOTAS decisions.
- 5
Help afterwards
Questions answered, and help with set-up and training if you’d like it.
The report
A report people can act on
Every assessment ends with a written report for the person and, with their agreement, whoever referred them.
- What helps and what gets in the way, in plain English
- Recommended software, settings and hardware, with the reason for each, never tied to what we sell
- Training or set-up the person will need
- Written to support Access to Work, EHCP and EOTAS decisions
Supporting funding and plans
We’ve carried out assessments to support:
- Access to Work
- The government scheme that helps pay for support at work.
- EHCPs
- Education, health and care plans for children and young people.
- EOTAS packages
- Education otherwise than at school, arranged with the local authority.
Referrals
Who can refer
We accept direct, school, local authority and medical professional referrals.
Yourself
Adults can refer themselves, and parents or carers can refer a young person.
Schools and colleges
SENCOs and staff supporting a pupil or student.
Local authorities
Including for EHCP and EOTAS packages.
Medical professionals
GPs, occupational therapists and other clinicians.
Making a referral
Tell us who the assessment is for, what they’d like help with, and whether you’re paying for it yourself or as the referrer. We’ll reply in writing with a quote.
Questions
Who pays for an assessment?
Either you pay for it yourself, or the school, local authority or professional who refers you pays for it. We’ll send a written quote before anything is booked.
Can I refer myself?
Yes. Adults can refer themselves, and parents or carers can refer a young person.
Who sees the report?
The person assessed, or their parent or carer, and anyone they agree to share it with, such as the referrer or funder.
Do I have to buy the software from you?
No. Our recommendations are independent, and you can buy from any supplier. If it’s easier, we also sell assistive software and can set it up.
Not sure if an assessment is right?
Tell us a little about the person and what they find hard. We’ll reply in writing and help you decide.
