Critical Infrastructure Upgrade

NeurodiverCity C.I.C. proposed and executed a comprehensive upgrade to a client's Building Management System (BMS) Infrastructure. The project aimed to enhance operational efficiency, ensure compliance, and create a resilient, future-proof IT environment.

  • Services: IT Services
  • Client: NHS Customer
  • Location: England, UK
  • Completed Date: April 2024

Project Requirement

The client required a solution to address the following:

  • icon Replacement of outdated mission-critical servers.
  • icon Increased storage capacity and data resilience.
  • icon Compliance with licensing and governmental guidelines.
  • icon Minimal downtime during server transition and data migration.
  • icon Reduction of single points of failure (SPOF) through distributed loads.
  • icon A cost-effective, modular, and vendor-independent infrastructure.

Solution & Result

NeurodiverCity implemented a phased approach to deliver the following:

  1. Server Replacement: Provisioned three high-performance SuperMicro rackmount servers with advanced specifications, including modular components and extended warranty.
  2. Storage and Resilience: Increased storage capacity by 8TB per server and improved data handling speeds.
  3. Compliance: Licensed servers with Windows Server 2022 Datacenter and ensured all decommissioned hardware was disposed of per NCSC and WEEE guidelines.
  4. Data Transition: Managed a seamless data migration process with contingency plans to prevent data loss.
  5. Distributed Load: Addressed SPOF by distributing workloads across multiple sites for improved resilience and performance.
  6. Testing and Quality Assurance: Conducted thorough system testing post-implementation to ensure robustness and continuity.
  7. Maintenance and Flexibility: Delivered a modular infrastructure allowing cost-effective upgrades and reduced downtime for repairs.

Results:

  • Achieved a future-proof, scalable infrastructure with 10 years of firmware and driver support.
  • Enhanced performance and operational efficiency across multiple sites.
  • Improved business continuity and reduced risks associated with single points of failure.
  • Delivered a cost-effective solution with flexibility for future upgrades.
  • Successfully aligned the infrastructure with compliance and security standards.
